SOUTH VALLEY
YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The South
Valley Youth Orchestra (SVYO) was formed in 2002 as a
non-profit corporation. We draw students from high schools,
middle schools, home schools and private music programs in
Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Hollister, San Jose, and surrounding
communities.
Mission
The South
Valley Youth Orchestra (SVYO) was formed to nurture the
talent of young musicians from throughout the region
through the performance of a challenging classical
repertoire, and to foster an appreciation of symphonic
music in the performers and the community.
We seek to bring together the finest young musicians from
Gilroy, Morgan Hill and surrounding communities. Through
inspiring leadership and a supportive atmosphere, students
will learn to work together to achieve excellence in the
performance of classical orchestral music. At the same
time, SVYO will strive to inspire other students’
interest in music, to support and encourage the expansion
of school music programs, and to collaborate with the South
Valley Symphony and other community groups.
